I know. Shocking user name. I just realized I never mentioned it to anyone on here other than Julie and Pete.

Doggies! Dog sitting! Like God sitting but reverse and actually tangible and real, and fun!

L-glutamine and breastfeeding? [May. 17th, 2008|09:14 pm]

gymrats

[diannadinoble]
I have just begun training again and picked up a tub of l-glutamine to take after workouts. I found this helped muscle recovery immensely when I was lifting years ago. The dosage mentioned that it was not intended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and I am currently breastfeeding my son. Is there a good reason to not take l-glutamine while breastfeeding (I can't imagine it being anything other than beneficial, since it's usually in our bodies anyhow), or are the manufacturers just saying that because studies haven't been done. Any ideas?

I desperately want to scratch my eyeballs out. Can't breathe through my nose.

Oh wait.

I can breathe through one nostril now and I have some form of alien lifeform in a tissue.

Because I like misery I'm gonna go huff geraniums.

For the uninitiated, these are the drawings I have bought over the past month from the super-talented Mr. Michael J. Jones whose work you should definitely check out and maybe even throw money at.

I believe what just happened on our telly would be called 'crack fic' in the world of fandom.

That was gloriously, fabulously silly. Daft as a sideboard full of puffins. Bravo.

Sale! Sale! Sale! [May. 18th, 2008|03:22 pm]

bites_the_sun
If I'm buying Trashy Diva stuff (I see Viv and the CC dress are currently tied in my poll - typically those are the two I can't make up my mind between), I'd like to pad my paypal a bit. Which means doing a quick BPAL sale, to which you lot get first dibs.

Up for grabs, 4 Limited Edition oils + 1 GC:

5ml Lunar Eclipse - tested once $20
5ml Red Lantern (2008 Lupercalia version) - tested once $19
5ml Hexxenacht (2008 Lupercalia version) - used a couple of times $19
5ml King Cobra (from Carnivale Diabolique - Snake Pit) - tested a couple of times - $16
5ml Sed Non Satiata - used a couple of times - oil at shoulder - $10

Also imps: $1.50 each:

Antique Lace (tested once)
Hellcat (lab fresh)
Tzadikim Nistarim (tested once)
Anubis (tested a couple of times)
Whip (tested once)

Postage - $2 for domestic/$3 for international should cover it for single bottle purchases, I'll weigh anything heavier and let you know. I use recycled packaging if anyone cares or objects and I wrap all bottles and imps in layers and layers of bubble wrap to prevent breakage. I'm littleblackpistol on eBay if anyone wants to check out my sales feedback there.

IN SPARKLY PURPLE BRIEFS: [May. 17th, 2008|10:10 am]

michaelbush

Flying Cedric Diggory sparkly vampire with purple eyes!

Despite myself - because I've tried to read Twilight, but sometimes lame Mary Sue vampire porn is so unspeakably bad not even I can stomach it (and I grew up with Poppy Z. Brite!) - I... kind of... want to see the film.

What else? I'm at that point of the year where everything turns up a notch - exams, work, a complete lack of revision and now worrying about where we're going to live come July (my only stipulation is 'anywhere but here' at this point; crap landlady is crap) - and I'm too busy to post, because once I sit down at the computer I can't even think in a straight line. Hence, tangents.

Cheer me up. What are you ashamed to be looking forward to?

Tonight's Doctor Who doesn't count. It looks excellent.

Oh! A big bundle of zines from Marching Stars just fell through my letterbox! Today is going to be a productive day, revision-wise. Oh dear...

ART for injury [May. 16th, 2008|07:36 pm]

gymrats

[draxxuscow]
Hey guys,

i was wondering if anyone has ever had an injury and gotten ART (active release therapy) as part of their rehabilitation. i recently had a sacro-iliac joint injury from olympic lifts, and have had 4 ART sessions so far. i am wondering how many is really beneficial, and when i can just go to only my own soft-tissue, myofascial release work.

any input would be appreciated.

Lucie Simplice Camille Benoist Desmoulins, more commonly known as Camille Desmoulins, French political journalist and key figure in the French Revolution. A pragmatic, erratic young man, afflicted with a stammer but, ironically, gifted in respect to the written word, Desmoulins's life was characterized by an extreme period of political upheaval and public presence, cut tragically short in the wake of the extreme infighting that plagued the last days of the Revolution.

But the question is, as always...

Was he hot?

When I buy a Trashy Diva thing for no apparent reason other than I like it very much. They have some cotton stuff that's priced much more reasonably than their usual fare that I'm considering ... plus, strong pound, weak dollar etc etc

So I realized today the next time June 21st, Midsummer's Day, will be on a Saturday is in 2014.

This means if we have the renewal of vows then, it'll be our 11th year married. Kind of a cockeyed year to renew vows...

Plus, that's a good 6 years away. At that point I'm not sure I'll still care about having a decent ceremony. Actually at that point it'll be old enough news that I doubt I *should*.

Dammit, I wanted it this year...5-year anniversary, Midsummer on a Saturday, it would've been GREAT...if we'd had the money. *sighs*

Murphy thinks he's funny, obviously.
